Part IV. Brainy Tasks
Task 1. Complete the dialogue in the restaurant with the waiter’s replies. The replies are in the random order. One has been done for you.
Waiter: Good evening, sir. Would you like a table for two?
Guest: Yes, please.
Guest: Yes, that would be fine. It looks nice and quiet over there.
Guest: Yes, please, a Cinzano and a dry Martini.
Waiter: Certainly, sir. 4________________________________________________________

Guest: The snails and one mixed salad, please.
Guest: Two fillet steaks with garlic butter, please.
Waiter: Certainly, sir. 8________________________________________________________

Guest: Yes, please. A bottle of home read wine.
Task 2. Table service. Complete the dialogue with the waitress replies.
Task 3. It is May Morgan's birthday today. As a special birthday treat, May's friend Larry takes her to a very expensive restaurant this evening. Look at the pictures and find out what happens in the restaurant.
Here is the conversation for the pictures, but it is in the wrong order. Can you put it in the right order?
Example I (d)
Larry: Excuse me. Could I have the bill, please?
Waiter: Certainly, sir.
May: It was a lovely meal, Larry. Thank you very much.
Larry: That's all right, May. Would you like another cup of coffee?
May: No, thanks. I've had enough, thank you.
Larry: I'll get the bill, then.
Larry: Oh, all right. I'll have a steak, then. Well-done, please.
Waiter: Vegetables, sir?
Larry: Yes. Some green beans. And some boiled potatoes, please.
Waiter: Good evening.
Larry: Good evening. Could we have a table for two, please?
Waiter: Certainly, sir. Would you like to sit over here?
Larry: Oh, yes. Thank you.
Waiter: Would you like to order now?
May: Yes. I think I'll have melon to start with, please. Then I'll have a steak with Frenchfried potatoes.
Waiter: How would you like your steak, madam? Rare, medium or well-done?
May: Medium, please. And I'll have a side salad.
Larry: Oh, no!
May: What is it Larry?
Larry: How embarrassing!
Larry: I've left my wallet at home.
May: Oh, Larry!
Waiter: And for you, sir?
Larry: I'll have soup to start with, please. Then I'll have chicken casserole with some ...
Waiter: I'm sorry, sir. The chicken casserole is all gone.
May: Oh dear! That's very expensive, Larry.
Larry: No problem, May. I've got plenty of money. Now where's my wallet?
Waiter: Would you like something to drink?
May: Can I have a glass of red wine, please?
Larry: I think I'll have a lager, please. And could I have some water?
